Long tail PRO is one among the better known tools for keyword research. The tool helps you with keyword research and also has a set of different tools inbuilt that will help you in your journey.

It’s a desktop tool (cloud version is also available now) that makes keyword research easy. And if you have been worrying about the changes to Keyword Planner where you aren’t able to see the exact monthly searches for keywords, then rest assured that LTP can help you overcome all the problems.

Here’s your LONG TAIL PRO discount link. Instead of paying $444, you will now pay only $297, so a whopping $147 discount with the above link.

There’s also a deeply discounted trial available where you can take the software for a ride and test out everything. If you are worried about something not working or are doubtful of the good things you heard then the trial period can help quell those fears.

Without much ado let’s understand some of the features that set this tool apart from the different keyword research tools available online.

Some of the most useful features of the keyword research tool are as follows:

  • With long tail pro you can create multiple projects. These can be different research projects for different sites or different keywords for the same site.
  • You can enter a seed keyword and the tool will generate hundreds of long tail keywords.
  • Ability to export the keywords as a csv file.
  • Not only can you do keyword research but within the tool itself you can search for the keyword with various extensions like .com, net, .info etc. to find if they’re available for registration.
  • You can also check the rankings of the keywords on other search engines like Bing.
  • Probably the most useful and talked about feature is the competition indicator or KC. In a scale ranging from 0 to 100 the tool shows you the relative toughness of ranking the particular keyword.

How to use the tool for keyword investigation?

First you need to choose the country for the research to begin. The software lists both global and local search volumes (specific to the country).

Click on generate keywords to get the keywords. It doesn’t happen fast. You will need to wait for some time to get the results.

Next you can click on the KC to get the competition value for these keywords.

What is KC and why bother?

Perhaps the best feature of the tool is the fact that it shows the keyword competitiveness. If you search for a keyword on the keyword planner tool, you get advertiser competition.

However that doesn’t reveal the actual competition required to rank the site. But with this tool you get the KC that shows you how hard it will be to rank for that keyword.

I feel KC is a measure of the number of results on Google for a keyword divided by the number of monthly searches. They could be including some more factors for calculating it, but that gives the gist of how it’s done.

That said, searching for each keyword, noting down the number of results available then finding out the approximate number of searches per month for that keyword (note that Keyword Planner doesn’t show the exact number of searches now) is all very time consuming.

This software makes everything a breeze.

You will need to select the keywords and click on them one by one to get the KC.

KC is scored based on a scale from 0 to 100, with 0 being the least competitive and 100 the most competitive keywords.

0 to 10 – No competition or quite low competition

10 to 20 – These keywords are pretty easy to rank with good content and social shares

20 to 30 – Low competition, need some backlinks, social shares, great content

30 to 40 – The competition is moderate, think of amazon buyer keywords for products in the range of $1000 to $5000.

40 to 50 – High competition, think of some long tail keywords in the weight loss niche.

50 to 60 – Very high competition, niches like finance, payday loans.

60 to 70 – Very very high competition, no idea

70 to 100 – No idea.

There’s no doubt that the tool can save time and find profitable ideas all day long.
